About Sage Flowers

Sage Flowers is a unique, full-service flower shop that is owned by OAR, a local non-profit that has been working since 1974 to help inmates inside the Arlington County and Alexandria Detention Centers prepare for a successful reentry into our community.

The idea is simple: Rather than continue to depend exclusively upon contributions and grants, Sage Flowers will generate revenue for OAR from the sale of flowers. This new "social enterprise" approach is taking off throughout the country as a creative way to generate revenue for non-profits. It requires a Board of Directors that is willing to do something different. It also requires just the right leadership at the right time to start a new business.

"Old timers" in Springfield will remember that for years and years, there was a Michael's of Springfield. In the summer of 2006, Sage Flowers entered into an agreement with Chris Polychrones, Michael's son and owner of Michael's of Lake Ridge, to take over the Springfield, VA service.

Sage Flowers delivers across the entire Washington Metropolitan area, and works with FTD, Teleflora and 1-800-Flowers to provide flowers nationwide. ALL of the profit from the shop will go toward supporting OAR programs and services.

Our shop serves the following areas: Springfield and Metropolitan Washington DC area.

Our shop is open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

We are closed on Sundays.

To help assure on-time delivery during the busy holiday season, place your order at least 1 day prior to the following major holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, Easter, Administrative Professionals Week, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.

A local delivery fee of $10 will be added to each order, for each address. (For deliveries outside our local delivery area, this fee may vary.)

U.S. orders must be received before 12:00 noon in the recipient's time zone to assure same-day delivery. Orders received after that time will be delivered the following day.

We will do our best to accommodate deliveries at specific times of day, but we cannot guarantee it.

We are unable to make deliveries on Sundays. Deliveries requested on this day will be delivered the following business day.

Delivery of orders to rural route addresses or cemeteries cannot be guaranteed.

We will be happy to accept your international orders if you call our shop directly. We are unable to accept international orders over the Internet.
